My Son’s Art-Do You Know What It Is???

Son's Art

Son's Art

Bravo to my 6 year-old son.  He is a great artist!  I told him that I would put his art on my blog and he told me maybe people will buy it.  I remember how frustrating it was as a child wanting to contribute to the family budget but not being able to help.  He just wants to help mom and dad like every other kid.  I am very proud and lucky to have great kids.

Decorate Your Home With Enlarged Photos of Your Kids

Here is a picture of our romp room (game room) where I blew up a photo of my daughter at 3.  I mounted the picture on a piece of foam board.  You can also purchase mat boards and have it cut at Hobby Lobby.  I paid about $15 to have the picture blown-up.  You scapbooking moms out there could also decorate the border area with all kinds of snazzy stickers.

People always ask me about the pictures.

Here is a picture of the beach that I took when I first traveled to California.  This photo was enlarged and printed on a canvas type material at Kinkos.  This photo hangs above my bed.

Free Art For Kids at Houston Museum of Fine Art…Families Stay Cool and Cultured This Summer

The Houston Museum of Fine Arts or http://mfah.org has free admission on Thursdays. Stay cool this summer!

Last summer my kids and I not only got a chance to tour the MFAH for free but we also participated in Creation Station where they made clay animals.

Park behind one of the other museums in the district, save money and walk across the street.

The museum is located at

1001 Bissonnet Street
Houston, TX 77005
713.639.7300

The admission does not include the Pompeii exhibit ticket which costs $8 to $10 for a ticket.

Creation Station is a drop-in art-making activity from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursdays and Sundays where families can drop-in and create art inspired by the museum exhibits. Kids can create sculptures, paintings, prints and photography in the studio located inside the museum.

This Thursday, June 19th the kids will be making scrolls and learning Chinese brush-strokes in the Beck building. Click here for a schedule of Creation Station activities.

Kids can also obtain free admission to the museum with a Houston Public Library Card.

Always Free Art Museum in Houston, TX For Kids …Contemporary Arts Museum

Visit the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston in the big steel building next to Herman Park:  http://www.camh.org/

Last summer my kids and I visited this always free museum located at 5216 Montrose, 713-284-8250.

It is so surprising that my kids got a chance to be exposed to different types of art for free.    I think they learned to value the drawings and colorings they do in a different light.  I even created a museum in a wall in our home to display my kids artwork from school and home.

The museum is a great place to visit especially on a hot summer day.  The museum is located two blocks south of  Houston’s  Children’s Museum.
