Kid Waterpark Near Houston For Summer Fun

Splashway Family Waterpark, 5211 Main St. Sheridan, Texas, 979-234-7718.

The waterpark is located about 90 minutes west of Houston.

My daughter wants to go to Schlitterbahn but I am afraid of the crowds and the $200 price tag entry fee for a family of four (not including gas).  I really don’t want to be standing in line with a bunch of wet people after paying $45 smackeroos.  I think that this little waterpark might be a happy compromise for our family.

I suggest you either arrive very early or bring a wagon or foldable chairs and be prepared to sit on the hill. Miller Outdoor Theatre usually has the concession stands open for these kind of events in the park.

Always be prepared with baby wipes, cold water and crackers.

Drop me a line if you get the chance to make it to the performance.

Every year I plan to go and every year I remember that I live in Houston (why does Houston try to have outside activities in the summer?)

Free Kids Tennis Lessons…..At Houston Area Parks

The City of Houston, Texas provides

 free tennis

lessons during the 2008 summer months at various city parks.  My kids took lessons five days a week last summer.  They even provide a tennis raquet.   At the end of the summer there is a city-wide tennis tournament at Memorial Park.

Always Free Art Museum in Houston, TX For Kids …Contemporary Arts Museum

Visit the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston in the big steel building next to Herman Park:  http://www.camh.org/

Last summer my kids and I visited this always free museum located at 5216 Montrose, 713-284-8250.

It is so surprising that my kids got a chance to be exposed to different types of art for free.    I think they learned to value the drawings and colorings they do in a different light.  I even created a museum in a wall in our home to display my kids artwork from school and home.

The museum is a great place to visit especially on a hot summer day.  The museum is located two blocks south of  Houston’s  Children’s Museum.
